Barber Instructor
We are looking for a licensed barber or cosmetologist who is passionate about teaching and helping the next wave of professionals aspiring to be in the beauty industry. Instructors will be responsible to follow a lesson plan and curriculum. You will be leading a theory class and running the clinic floor assisting with practical operations. Must be a licensed barber/cosmetologist for at least 3to apply for the position. Training will be provided for this position.
Barber instructors must educate, motivate, mentor, and coach all future professionals in their technical and guest service skills and create extraordinary learning experiences in the clinic classroom using objective-based education, demos, and learning centers.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will have previous education and barbering experience. He or she must have a passion for educating, motivating, mentoring, and coaching all future professionals. As well as a drive to inspire and coach future professionals in all clinic floor classroom settings. This position requires experience in positive and effective communication, soft skills, professional development skills, and teamwork. Experience instructing at a barbering school is preferred.
We expect the candidate to be able to fully provide and prepare instructions to students in line with the school’s mission and goals. The instructor needs to engage actively in retention and attendance activities by performing and being responsible for the following duties (others may be assigned).
Duties and Responsibilities

Develops and implements the school mandated curriculum.

Prepares, presents, and supplements as needed all lesson plans for assigned classes according to the school’s curriculum.

Provides assistance for the planning, development, and maintenance of program curriculum.

Maintains classroom structure and discipline.

Maintains accurate and current academic records.

Possesses a working knowledge of the school’s SAP policy, school rules, grading policies and criteria, practical requirements, and state regulations.

Enforces rules and regulations of the school NACCAS, BPPE, BBC, DOE and other agencies.

Maintains a thorough, accurate and current knowledge of the subject matter taught.

Provides annual documentation of continuing professional growth.

Attends scheduled program meetings, school in-service workshops, and staff meetings.

Maintains a thorough knowledge of the school’s mission and vision.

Acts as a liaison between administration and students.

Adheres to and publicly supports the schools policies and procedures, included but not limited to the staff handbook and course catalog.

Attends school functions when possible.

Maintains up to date product knowledge.

Maintains communication throughout department and management.

Assists the Admissions Department as needed in giving potential students a tour of the facility.

Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates And Licenses Required

Barbering License or Cosmetology License – California State approved

High school diploma or GED (Required)

Teaching: 1 year (preferred)

Barbering: 3 years (preferred)
Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Internet Explorer, Google, Gmail, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
Job Type: Full Time - 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. / 3:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour *Starting Pay*
